Severe Injuries Could Have Been Avoided!
A West Lothian property company has recently fined following Working at Height 2005 and Health & Safety at Work 1974 regulation breaches which occurred in 2016.
The courts heard how the Scottish based company had failed to put relevant safety measures in place to prevent the risk of a working at height fall.
Failures in the planning of the work from height and resulted in a fine of £4,000 when a worker fell through a roof light.
Fracture injuries were sustained by the worker which required surgery.
Falls from a height remain one of the most common causes of workplace injuries and fatalities as shown in last years statistics.
HSE Inspector speaking after the hearing – “If a suitable safe system of work had been in place prior to the incident, the severe injuries sustained by this employee could have been prevented.”
