Don't Leave It Too Late To Support Your Staff
Loneliness and isolation are just some of the heightened feelings that we are being exposed to during this latest lockdown. With one eye on potential freedom, we cast our eyes over a topic which is close to many hearts.
Our mental health is feeling huge strain now, more than ever before, with many working from home and others furloughed, the feeling of uncertainty about the future is setting in.
With statistics showing that 1 in 4 people will suffer from a mental health related illness throughout their lifetime addressing mental health is just as important as physical health in the workplace.
Remote and Rural Work
Never before has this been a more important time to take action especially for those who are already working in rural and remote jobs.
Agriculture suffered 20 fatalities in 2019/2020 through farm accidents, making it is easy to assume that this is the number 1 cause of agricultural related fatalities. However, in reality there is over 6 times more deaths related to mental health in this industry as shown by statistics from the Office of National Statistics and the National Records of Scotland. Reducing the stigma surrounding mental health has been forefront of the Farm Safety Foundations “Mind Your Head” campaign which concluded this week and for the 4th year has served to illustrate the actions needed to break down the mental health barriers in farming.
Support Your Friends, Family and Colleagues
Don’t leave it too late, act now and ensure your staff and family members are receiving the right support especially during these testing times.
