Southampton Warehouse and Storage Company Stomach £40,000 HSE Bill
An incident back in July 2019 at a warehouse and storage company has led to a fine topping £40,000.
A collision involving a pedestrian delivery driver and forklift truck resulted in the delivery driver sustaining life changing mobility injuries.
The driver was knocked to the ground by the forklift trick and his legs were crushed.
An investigation into the incident by the HSE found that inadequate control measures were in place at the delivery yard. Further to this, the lack of segregation for pedestrians and vehicles has been brought to the forefront. More over, the company pleaded guilty to breaching section 2 (1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974.
Speaking after the hearing, HSE inspector said: “The injuries sustained in this incident were life changing and could have easily been fatal.
